Lancaster County Register of Wills Office and Orphans Court
Provides the following basic services to the people of Lancaster County: Register of Wills - Grants letters testamentary to those probating a will and letters of administration to those who die without a will. (Records are open to public inspection.) - Collects inheritance tax for Pennsylvania Orphans Court - Issues marriage licenses - Provides applications to persons wishing to obtain copies of birth certificates - Handles all adoption proceedings. Adoptions are sealed and held in closed court - Settle estates of minors and incapacitated persons
