- Development and enforcement of OSHA regulations in places of private & federal employment
- Investigation of all complaints involving safety and health hazards at places of employment both private and federal
- Has a contract with Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Safety Sciences Department to provide free on-site consultations to private employers at their request
- Also has a resource center on occupational safety and health, which includes written and audio visual materials
