Lancaster County Prison houses individual's that are minimum to maximum security levels. Average length of stay is approximately 120 days. Those committed and sentenced can be held for periods up to 2 years less one day. The prison offers a wide range of services that support the rehabilitation of individuals, reduction of the likelihood of the individual coming back to jail and prepares them for successful reintegration into the community. The programs that are offered include educational classes and evidence-based curriculum. Reentry needs are also addressed while the individual is incarcerated.

Prison Physician: 24-hour medical coverage and emergency services through PrimeCare Medical.
Prison Psychiatrist: Mental health and crisis counseling through PrimeCare Medical.
Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Education: Group D&A education
Alcoholics Anonymous meetings through community volunteers
Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
Anger and stress management classes
Parenting classes
Relationship management
Individual and group spiritual counseling and services through daily clergy visits

The County acts as an agent of the Commonwealth for those functions which are specified by State law. To carry out those functions, three County Commissioners are elected every four years.
