- Grants letters testamentary to those probating a will and letters of administration to those who die without a will
- Collects inheritance tax for Pennsylvania
- Issues marriage licenses
- Provides applications to persons wishing to obtain copies of birth certificates
- Handles all adoption proceedings. Adoptions are sealed and held in closed court
- Settle estates of minors and incapacitated persons
