The American Legion is the nation'slargest, most influential, effective and dependable advocate of veteran affairs. Since 1919, Legionnaires have fought for the rights of servicemen and women. Today we stand as 2.7 million members with over 200,000 Legionnaires from The Department of Pennsylvania. We are a powerful voice for veterans in Washington, DC; The American Legion drafted the original GI Bill and was instrumental in establishing the federal agency that today is the Department of Veterans Affairs. There are more than 800 American Legion Posts across the state of Pennsylvania. The American Legion Family includes The American Legion Auxiliary, The Sons of The American Legion and The American Legion Riders. Together we work hand in hand united in patriotism and working for veterans advocacy.
