Service area

Oversees both the Clerk of Orphans' Court and the Register of Wills. The duties of the Clerk of Orphans' Court include: filing petitions for incapacitated persons and petitions for the appointment of guardians for minors, petitions for adoptions (which records are confidential), the granting of marriage licenses, and records of births and deaths from 1893 through 1906. This office is also responsible for assisting the Judge of Orphans' Court during court proceedings, as well as the documents pertaining to those proceedings. As register of wills, this office has jurisdiction over the probate of wills and the granting of letters of testamentary and letters of administration.
