Eviction Prevention Court and Homeless

Friends Association provides free legal representation, financial assistance, and social service support to individuals and families facing eviction through the Eviction Prevention Court Program. The program currently serves the Downingtown and Coatesville District Courts. Homelessness Prevention Programs provide community-based services and eviction prevention for families that balance financial assistance, landlord mediation, and case management for 12-18 months to support economic self-sufficiency and the resiliency of families.

Administrative Hours: Monday -Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm After-hours emergency support is provided as needed.

Application process

Referrals from external partners, self-referral from clients. Intake interview to confirm eligibility.

Eligibility

Eviction Prevention Court- 1.Individuals or family scheduled to appear in the Downingtown or Coatesville District Court for a hearing; 2.Household income must be at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI); 3.The individual or family lacks the resources or support networks needed to maintain permanent housing Homelessness Prevention Program 1. Family (self-defined) with children 2. Income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. 3. Head of household must have a lease in their name. 4. For eviction prevention, landlord-tenant complaint must be provided
