Franklin County Government - Government Entity
Provides pastoral care to inmates, their families, and jail staff through the chaplain, including approximately 1,000 individual pastoral sessions each year. Offers oversight of daily volunteer-led Bible studies and coordinates weekly worship services for all faiths. Supports inmates and their families through a Christmas gift program for children, a Christmas party for inmates with cookies from local churches, and individual correspondence Bible studies. Conducts mission interpretation visits to local churches and creates opportunities for inmates who want to change and are open to connecting with a congregation. Offers training and guidance to individuals who wish to visit the jail as a Christian witness.

Franklin County is governed by a board of three county commissioners elected every four years by the citizens who live here. The Board of Commissioners oversees the entire operation of the county and represents the best interests of the citizens. County commissioners also oversee the the core functions of the county government such as fiscal operations, human resources, taxes, voting, emergency services, planning, and information technology. Other officials are also elected to perform certain functions: the Controller, the Treasurer, and the Recorder of Deeds. Under the direction of these officers, the county maintains important legal records such as real estate deeds, licenses and permits, and financial records.
