Eligibility

Former service members with any type of discharge. The defendant must be a resident of Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Offenders must also have a major Axis I diagnosis verified by a licensed Mental Health Professional within the last 2 years. If an offender does not have a diagnosis verified in the last 2 years they will have to undergo the appropriate assessment.

The Fayette County Veteran’s Treatment Court is a pretrial diversionary program for offenders diagnosed with a legitimate mental illness including PTSD. The mission of the Fayette County Veteran’s Treatment Court is to provide our Veteran’s with the opportunity to participate in rehabilitative services in order to address any mental health, substance abuse, or lifestyle issue that has occurred in correlation with their military service. A reduction in recidivism and an overall improvement in community is also hoped to be attained.

Provides resources and assistance to Pennsylvania's one million veterans and their families, and provides care for aging and disabled veterans. Also prepares and deploys the Pennsylvania National Guard for worldwide combat and combat support operations and provides trained personnel to state and local authorities in times of natural disaster or civil strife. Provides financial assistance, in the form of grants, to eligible Pennsylvania service members and their eligible family members through the Pennsylvania Military Family Relief Assistance Program (PA MFRAP). Offers its veterans six extended care facilities throughout the state. The level of care provided includes personal care, skilled nursing care, domicilliary care, and dementia care. These facilities offer qualified veterans and their spouses dedicated, superior care.
