YMCA of Sewickley Valley - Faith in Action

Coordinates volunteer transportation assistance for ambulatory older adults to medical appointments. Limited to residents of the following school districts: Quaker Valley, Ambridge, Moon, and Cornell. Through our Quaker Valley Food to Families program, Faith in Action extends our reach to community members experiencing food insecurity. To support community well-being, we provide neighbors in need with essential food boxes containing fresh fruits and vegetables, pantry staples, dairy, and meat. Quaker Valley Food to Families currently supports only residents of the Quaker Valley School District. Staying safe and confident at home is essential for maintaining independence. Through our Safe at Home program, older adults in Allegheny and Beaver counties can receive a free, certified home safety assessment completed by a Senior Home Safety Specialist trained by Age Safe America. During the visit, the specialist reviews key areas such as lighting, flooring, grab bars, and other features that may pose safety concerns. As part of the assessment, the specialist can also identify recommended items that may qualify for external grant assistance and help connect participants with trusted contractors for any work that requires professional installation. Safe at Home provides personalized guidance to help seniors reduce fall risks, improve comfort at home, and make informed decisions about safety improvements—always delivered with the same care and respect at the heart of Faith in Action.
