Eligibility

Veteran's eligibility criteria:
  • A person who served in the Armed Forces of the United States and
residing in Pennsylvania, who:
  • was discharged under Honorable Conditions after period of
active duty, other than active duty for training,
  • has a service-connected disability as certified by the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs,
  • Veteran must demonstrate a financial need,
  • must show either a loss of income or increase in expenses that
renders the applicant temporarily unable to provide themselves with the necessities of living.

Monday through Friday, 8:15am to 4:30pm

Provides temporary financial aid to Veterans and their beneficiaries who reside in Pennsylvania for the necessities of life (food, shelter, fuel, clothing and medical expenses). If eligible, a Veteran or their beneficiary can qualify for an amount not to exceed $1,600 in a twelve month period.

Providing organization

Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veteran Affairs
Provides resources and assistance to Pennsylvania's one million veterans and their families, and provides care for aging and disabled veterans. Also prepares and deploys the Pennsylvania National Guard for worldwide combat and combat support operations and provides trained personnel to state and local authorities in times of natural disaster or civil strife. Provides financial assistance, in the form of grants, to eligible Pennsylvania service members and their eligible family members through the Pennsylvania Military Family Relief Assistance Program (PA MFRAP). Offers its veterans six extended care facilities throughout the state. The level of care provided includes personal care, skilled nursing care, domicilliary care, and dementia care. These facilities offer qualified veterans and their spouses dedicated, superior care.
