  • Statewide Elder Abuse HOTLINE: 1-800-490-8505 The goal of the Protective Services Department is to insure that the basic health and safety of all older adults are met in the least restrictive setting possible, and that no older adult should remain at imminent risk to person or property. Elder abuse may involve one or more of the following:
    • Abuse
    • Neglect
    • Exploitation
    • Abandonment
    Abuse may occur when a caregiver fails to meet the needs of the older person or when older people fail to take care of themselves. Protective Services are provided under one or more of the following conditions:
    • 60 years of age or older
    • Incapacitated person
    • Unable to obtain or perform services necessary to maintain physical or mental health
    • No responsible caretaker
    • Imminent risk of his/her person or property

    Maintains the mission of York County Human Services Division to provide equal access to services that support the safety and well-being of all eligible residents in a timely and cost-effective manner. Provides oversight of the following through the administrative office: Area Agency on Aging; Office of Children, Youth, and Families (Child Welfare Hotline: 1-800-932-0313); York-Adams Mental Health/Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (York-Adams MH-IDD); York-Adams Drug and Alcohol Commission; York-Adams Health Choices Management Unit; and York County Youth Development Center.
