Thirty hours of online instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction are provided to school-age students. Instructors are certified by PennDOT to administer the licensing test to first-time drivers.

Programs and services reflect its mission to provide quality education services that help students learn and support teachers in bringing best practices to the classroom as well as offering valuable services to school districts.The CSIU's primary service area consists of Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties in central Pennsylvania. This area includes 17 school districts, 3 career and technical centers, 69 nonpublic schools, 3,905 district, instructional, administrative and support staff and 36,945 public and nonpublic school students.
