At City Year, we believe that all students can succeed and that developing the skills and mindsets of children and young adults contributes to strong, vibrant communities—outcomes that benefit all of us. City Year Philadelphia is working hard to address the lack of equitable access to educational opportunities; particularly for students of color and those growing up in low-income households. Dedicated and passionate AmeriCorps members work closely with students, doing so through individualized attention that helps students feel valued and supported in their learning. In addition to 1:1 tutoring, City Year Philadelphia AmeriCorps members mentor students in small groups, organize school-wide events, and run afterschool programs.
