Vocational Rehabilitation Services
Services are provided when there is a reasonable expectation that employment is a possible outcome of the services. "Employment" means not only competitive placement, but also in some instances, homemaking. Services may include: - Evaluation of medical, psychological, occupational, and educational abilities and limitations - Providing comprehensive medical, psychological, and allied services to minimize the disabling condition and enable the person to work - Assistance with setting vocational goals and making plans to attain them - Developing job skills through vocational and technical schools, universities, on-the-job training, or rehabilitation workshops - Independent living services - Placement in employment - Post-employment services - Adaptive equipment necessary for employment - Rehabilitation engineering services Disabilities served include, but are not limited to: - Alcoholism/Substance Abuse - Amputation - Epilepsy - Heart disease - Mental illness - Muscular disease - Developmental disabiliti

Administers benefits to unemployed individuals, oversees the administration of workers' compensation benefits to individuals with job related injuries, and provides vocational rehabilitation to individuals with disabilities. The Department prepares job seekers for the global workforce through employment and job training services for adult, youth, older workers, and dislocated workers. In addition, L&I enforces various laws and safety standards in the workplace and administers the Commonwealth's programs for community service by young Pennsylvanians.
