Non-profit corporation whose mission is to undertake affordable housing and community development projects in Lancaster City and County. It uses federal, state and local programs and effective local partnerships to achieve its goals. Community Basics serves primarily low and moderate income households by:
  • conducting or promoting activities designed to provide safe and adequate housing and related services and to alleviate housing shortages
  • combating community deterioration, poverty, racial discrimination and prejudice; reducing neighborhood tensions
  • relieving the poor, distressed and underprivileged
  • conducting or promoting residential rehabilitation and commercial area revitalization
  • developing health, social and recreational services facilities
  • providing other social services and counseling
  • raising the economic and educational levels of underprivileged residents
