Before entering the Prothonotary's office, you must have a mask on. Please use the hand sanitizer provided before you approach the counter. No children 12 years old or younger are permitted in the Prothonotary's office at anytime. Only 3 individuals are allowed to file at one time. Non-filing individuals must wait in the hallway or outside. Attorney's coming into the Prothonotary's office to file paperwork, must tell their clients to wait in the hallway. Franklin County is governed by a board of three county commissioners elected every four years by the citizens who live here. The Board of Commissioners oversees the entire operation of the county and represents the best interests of the citizens. County commissioners also oversee the the core functions of the county government such as fiscal operations, human resources, taxes, voting, emergency services, planning, and information technology. Other officials are also elected to perform certain functions: the Controller, the Treasurer, and the Recorder of Deeds.
