Activities include: - Resolving taxpayer complaints and providing taxpayer service and education - Determining, assessing, and collecting internal revenue taxes - Determining pension plan qualifications and exempt organization status - Preparing and issuing rulings and regulations to supplement the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code - Information on the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC) program for working parents is available. Eligible parents can apply by attaching Schedule EIC to their income tax form - Information on filing applications to become an "exempt" organization can be obtained by calling the "1040" line. EXEMPT refers to those groups wishing to become non-profits. NOTE: To apply for exemption from PA Sales Tax, contact the PA Department of Revenue in Lancaster. IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC): Personal tax help if tax issue can only be handled face-to-face. By appointment only.
