Description

Children from New York City are provided a one-to-two week vacation with a host family during the summer months. It is hoped that the host family will accept the child as one of their own during the visit. Medical bills are paid by program, which is funded by New York City businesses and New York United Way. Transportation and liability insurance are paid by the Fresh Air Fund. The program is for inner city children of NYC ages 7-12. Host families are recruited in 13 different states along the eastern seaboard from Canada-West Virginia. Background checks, PA Child Abuse Clearances , References and an interview are required to be a host family. Lancaster County has 4 different groups arriving from June 30 - August 21. Hosts may choose age and gender of the child, also the weeks that fit best in the Host Family's schedule.
