Schuylkill United Way
The Schuylkill United Way is dedicated to providing funding, guidance and encouragement to the health and human service agencies that provide a wide variety of programs and services to residents of Schuylkill County. They maintain a leadership role in bettering the lives of Schuylkill County residents, from community programming to lifesaving services. Schuylkill United Way also hosts three annual events: the Capt. Jason B. Jones Memorial Day of Caring, which is a community-wide day of public service held on the second Friday of May; the High School Football Challenge, held on the third Tuesday of June, which features every football team in the county competing for a trophy while teaching civic responsibility to these student athletes; and Stuff the Bus, a program designed to provide new backpacks filled with new school supplies to students in need every September. SUW also runs the Nurse's Pantry, which is available in every school building in Schuylkill County. This program provides school nurses with hygiene products, clothes, and items students need to stay healthy and to succeed.
