Grow Pittsburgh - Garden Resource Center

Provides a tool lending library and bulk garden materials depot. Seeks to reduce barriers to growing food by making it easier for gardeners in the region to access the tools and supplies they need to grow successful home and community gardens. For a sliding scale annual membership fee, the GRC allows patrons to access free garden tool rentals and bulk materials such as organic compost, mulch, and soil amendments.

Penn State Cooperative Extension - Lancaster County - Penn State Cooperative Extension & Outreach

- Agriculture: Dairy, poultry, livestock, horticulture, farm safety, agronomy, ag economic development - West Nile Virus Program - Master Gardening Program - Family Living: Strong Women, strength training program - Better Kid Care: A training and resource program for childcare providers. DPW training credits are earned through this program. Fee $5-10. - Nutrition: food irradiation, foods and nutrition, home canning and freezing, food safety information, food safety training for volunteer groups. - Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP): for low-income families - SuperCupboard Nutrition Program. - My New Weight of Life: an 11 week weight management program designed to re-educate participants on their eating habits for permanent weight loss. - 4-H and Youth Development Eligibility: Members, from 8 to 18 years before January 1; Leaders, adult volunteers interested in sharing time and talents with youth - Special Programs: Therapeutic Riding Seeing Eye Dog Project Areas: - Animal

Growing Old Together - In-Home Assistance

Provides both the practical means and social connections for older adults to live independently in their own homes. Services include transportation to medical appointments, errands, and shopping; social and cultural events; light home maintenance and gardening; respite and social visits; and technology troubleshooting. Limited to two services per week.

Offers a five week gardening class that teaches participants how to start and maintain their own backyard gardens. The class series covers soil preparation, seed starting, pest management, ongoing plant care, and harvesting. Participants will receive a set of basic gardening tools as part of the class series.
