Tax Services is comprised of tax assessment and tax claim functions. Tax Assessment - The Assessment office values all real estate and improvements in the county. We have both counter computers and property record cards where records may be searched and copies of various forms may be purchased. Tax Claim - Tax Claim collects all delinquent real estate taxes that were levied by the county, municipality or school district.

Offers a real estate tax relief program for eligible homeowners whose property assessments (after the Homestead Exemption) increased by 50% or more from last year or 75% over the past five years. Participants must also meet income (see website) and length of home ownership requirements.

Collects Personal Income Tax, Sales and Use Tax, all corporate taxes, Inheritance Tax, Realty Transfer Tax, Motor and Alternative Fuel Taxes, and all other state taxes. Collects the Local Sales Tax for Allegheny and Philadelphia counties, the Public Transportation Assistance Tax, and funds for the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority. Administers the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program and the Public Utility Realty Tax reimbursement prepares the tax expenditure portion of the Governor's Budget, and licenses distributors and manufacturers of small games of chance. The department's mission is to fairly, efficiently, and accurately administer the tax laws and other revenue programs of the commonwealth to fund necessary government services.

Collects all delinquent real estate taxes on behalf of Chester County.

Collects all monies due to the county and invests such funds. Also responsible for distribution of payroll and disbursement checks; the payment of juror and witness vouchers; collection of hotel and motel rental taxes; and the issuing of all licenses with regards to dogs, fishing, and hunting.

The Assessment Office shall assess all parcels of real property for the purpose of ad valorem (at value) taxation. Also administers the "Clean and Green" program and "Homestead and Farmstead Property Exclusion" .
