Youth Alternatives - Summer/After School Program

Provides multiple exciting activities during summer and school season for youth of Venango County. In addition to daily activities, offers swimming, movie day, bowling, picnics, and various other outings. Offers a nutritious meal throughout the summer. Offers a one-on-one homework assistance and a warm nutritious meal throughout the school year. Many of our activities are learning-based and incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Provides safe spaces and enriching activities for youth after school that support critical thinking, social skills, and academic achievement. Located at these schools: George W. Childs, Newlin Fell, Southwark Elementary, Vare-Washington Elementary, and Horace Howard Furness High - 21st Century Community Learning Center. Also located at Mamie Nichols Center.

Hempfield recCenter - Recreational Programs

Provides recreational programs, including tennis lessons, clinics, and tournaments; indoor pickleball; group exercise classes; cycling classes; indoor and outdoor aquatics; youth and adult sports leagues; summer playground program and day camp; before and after school care; volleyball; basketball; special interest classes and events; and pavilion and field rentals.

River Crossing YMCA - Before/After School Enrichment

Before/After School Enrichment Program is available for children in grades 1-5, Monday through Friday. Available 6:30am to 6:00pm at YMCA branch in Allentown School District. Program is school-based in the East Penn and Parkland School Districts and is available 7:00am to 6:00pm. Full-time and part-time options are available. Registration required. Fees vary. Provides free access to healthy snacks and meals.

Susquehanna Valley United Way - Literacy Programs

After school programs are held in collaboration with participating school districts in Northumberland County. School faculty and staff provide student referrals for programming. Programming provides supervised care and activities to build skills for literacy. Assistance with homework is also provided. This supportive environment aims to foster social and emotional skills that will help students build self confidence in academics at school. There is no cost for this program.

YMCA of Greater Erie - Before and After School Enrichment

Provides structured activities including science, group projects, environmental awareness, arts and crafts, games, sports components, field trips, and more. Children also have time to tackle homework with the help of well-trained Y staff who know how to challenge and listen to them. If a child is enrolled in the School-Age Enrichment program, per request, they can be matched with a pre-qualified Big Brother or Big Sister. A healthy breakfast and snack is included in your daily rate as well as transportation to and from school.
