Engages youth in social-emotional learning, mindfulness training, and topic-based conversations as they are guided through the writing process. Participants produce four to six original pieces of writing per year in the genres of narrative writing, informative writing, descriptive writing, and poetry. Offers an after school program for middle- and high school youth of the African and Caribbean immigrant and refugee community. Services include homework help, positive acculturation support, career/vocational guidance, general health and sexual/reproductive health education, nutrition education, and sports and other recreational activities. Also extends the program to Bartram High School campus once a week. Offered from October through June; intake is flexible, and students can join at any time.
