Well-trained volunteers who, when authorized by a judge, speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court. CASA volunteers serve as fact-finders for the judge and represent the child's interests in court by establishing a relationship of trust with the child and acting as a "watchdog" for the child during the life of the case. CASA associations provide up to 30 hours of training and ongoing support for volunteers.
