Youth Aid Panels provide a restorative response to juvenile crime by involving the victim, offender and community. The Youth Aid Panel provides an alternative to juvenile court. The panel is a group of six trained volunteers who enter into a contract with first-time juvenile offenders. The contract allows the individual to make amends for a crime in exchange for wiping the offense off his or her permanent record. The offense must be a non-violent one. Juveniles must make an unconditional admission of guilt and perform an act of retribution such as community service, participating in rehabilitation and awareness seminar or writing an essay. Failure to fulfill the contract will result in the case being sent to juvenile court.

Assists in negotiating the case with other disputants. Areas of dispute resolution: divorce property (asset-debt), allocation, custody and visitation negotiations, litigation, boundary disputes, contract matters, personal injury settlements, labor disputes, construction/building controversies, landlord-tenant disputes, will contests, and mock trials for attorneys to help evaluate the merits of a case.

Offers a guided process where parties come together to work out a solution to a particular youth or family issue, such as parent-child disputes, communication issues, and behavior conflicts.

Administers the special education dispute resolution system in Pennsylvania to include due process, mediation, and IEP facilitation. Creates agreement training and conflict resolution skills training that is also available to families and schools.
