Provides free, one-to-one, small group and large group instruction in reading, writing, math or English as a Second Language to adults who wish to improve basic skills. Tutoring sessions may be held at any public location such as a library, church, community center, or recreation hall. Offers GED Prep classes in Elizabethtown and Columbia. Recruits and trains volunteer reading coaches to increase literacy development by expanding opportunities for children to have shared adult-child book reading time, ultimately helping youth read on grade level by 3rd grade and stay on track to school success. Both in person and virtual opportunities are available.

The afterschool program at The Salvation Army Chester Corps Community Center exists to provide a safe and productive place for children to spend after school hours. They will receive homework help and participate in a variety of character-building activities in education, arts, and recreation.
