Seeks to improve the safety and overall health status of the Lycoming County and of those living in the county by assessing the needs and facilitating a response to priority health and wellness issues through a collaborative data and community-driven process.

Services include communicable disease reporting and investigation; epidemiology, informational and referral; chronic disease prevention and intervention; clinical services (including sexually-transmitted disease and tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment, immunization, and HIV testing, counseling and education); family health programs and environmental health services (including animal bites and rabies information).

Promotes public awareness, education, and training about sickle cell disease. Offers client health advocacy, comprehensive psychosocial assessments, individual counseling, testing, social work, case management, and other supports.

Serves 13 counties directly and through contract agencies to provide services including: Tuberculosis (TB), Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD), HIV Counseling & Testing (C/T), Immunizations, Communicable Disease Surveillance and Control, and Animal Bite Control. Additional services for high risk pregnant women, infants, children, and families, services to families with children with special health care needs, childhood lead poisoning, PKU, SIDS, Injury Prevention, Public Health Education, chronic disease prevention and intervention (i.e. diabetes, cancer, injury prevention, oral health, cardiovascular disesases,etc.) and environmental health.

Provides public health education, preventive nursing services, emergency preparedness, immunizations, communicable disease surveillance and investigation, HIV testing and counseling, community empowerment, and other nursing services as mandated by PA legislation. Provides adult and child immunizations, HIV/AIDS referrals, and health resources.

Provides inpatient and outpatient medical services. Inpatient care includes medical and surgical services, critical care, operating room services, maternity and pediatric care, mental health treatment, acute rehabilitation, and neonatal intensive care. Additional inpatient programs include a mammography screening program and Healthy Beginnings Plus, a prenatal care program for individuals receiving or eligible for Medical Assistance. Emergency services are also available. Outpatient services include laboratory and imaging services, cardiology, cancer care at Ephrata Cancer Center, and sleep apnea diagnosis at the Sleep Disorder Center.

Offers peer or professionally led groups for caregivers and others dealing with Alzheimer's disease. All support groups are facilitated by trained individuals. Meetings are held once per month on second Monday of the month at 5:30 pm.

WIC provides low-income pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children under age 5 who are nutritionally at-risk with nutritious foods, nutrition and health education, breastfeeding promotion and a referral system for health and social services.

Provides education, advocacy, supports, and research to maximize the quality of life for those with brain injuries and their families. Offers a toll free Brain Injury Resource Line (BIRL). Brain STEPS school re-entry program provides training to educators and parents to make sure they understand the effects of brain injury, the resulting challenges, and the supports and interventions that will help students with brain injuries be successful in school.

Offers parenting and health-related classes for adults and educational opportunities for teens and young children on such topics as safe babysitting, puberty, sexuality, nutrition, dealing with anger, and self-esteem.

Operates a call center. Provides information on topics including allergies, how to quit smoking, and environmental issues. Offers physician referrals.
