Specially trained veteran employment representatives located in PA CareerLink® offices provide veterans with a full range of employment services, including referral services, job development, referral to training, and referral to government and community veteran service agencies. These representatives help veterans match their job skills to employer job openings and contact employers on behalf of the veteran for consideration in hiring. PA CareerLink® offices comply with the Jobs for Veterans Act by providing priority services to veterans. Local Veterans Employment Representatives and/or Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialists are available at PA CareerLink® offices to assist veterans with job search and other employment needs. Job seekers identified as veterans are matched to job orders, before any other job seeker matches are performed.

Designed to match essential job skills with employee knowledge and ability, the WIN and WorkKeys assessments work together to provide both job seekers and employers with valuable training and information. Clients work through practice tests prior to taking the standardized WorkKeys exam within a controlled environment. If scores demonstrate weakness in a particular subject area, remediation modules and instructor assistance are available.

After orientation, the participant may receive skills enhancement to assist with: GED preparation, obtain training in job readiness sessions, and possibly obtain a higher level of training that is geared for a specific job position.

The goal of the program is to provide participants with intensive, culturally relevant services that assist them in discovering and pursuing career pathways, education, and training in in-demand fields that will significantly improve their socio-economic trajectory.

Helps individuals identify and overcome barriers to employment and obtain sustained meaningful employment. Offers computer use, printers, weekly job leads, and a community resource board in addition to customized assistance and referrals to other community organizations.

Provide case management services to individuals or families who need assistance with food security; interpretation and translation; court processes in domestic, divorce, or child custody matters; finding employment and/or training; information for families on juvenile justice cases; completing higher education applications and other systems navigation assistance.

Helps homeless families obtain permanent housing while addressing the educational, vocational and social factors that contributed to their situation. Assists families in need and encourages self-sufficiency through a variety of programs and workshops over a 12-18 month period, covering health, driving, life skills, GED prep, and job readiness training.

Providing career services, placement, and reentry services. After enrollment program details, including participant responsibilities, are reviewed as well as any barriers the participant has that need to be addressed such as securing identification (photo ID, driver's license, birth certificate, social security card., etc.). While the participant is still incarcerated (pre-release), job readiness services are provided along with career exploration and discussions of education and occupational skills training opportunities. Post-release we continue to coordinate education, training, and employment activities while also encouraging participants in their continuation with any, court ordered or voluntary, mental health services and/or drug and alcohol treatment. We also continue to provide supportive services such as bus passes, work clothing, etc. From the date of initial enrollment, we are in contact with participants for about two or more years.
