08/2018: In light of recent events, the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (PDMVA) might be able to offer a onetime benefit payment (up to a max of $1,600). All honorably discharged veterans should contact their county Veterans Affairs office for qualifications and processing. --------------------- Assists veterans in navigating the system to access the following services: dependency and indemnity compensation, health care enrollment, education benefit, vocational and rehabilitation training, home loan guarantees, life insurance, burial benefits, tax exemptions, emergency assistance, blind and paralyzed pension, specialized veteran’s license plates, markers and headstones.

Under law, VA recognizes these war periods: Mexican Border Period: May 9, 1916 through April 5, 1917, for veterans who served in Mexico, on its borders or in adjacent waters. World War I: April 6, 1917 through November 11, 1918; for veterans who served in Russia, April 6, 1917 through April 1, 1920; extended through July 1, 1921, for veterans who had at least one day of service between April 6, 1917 and November 11, 1918. World War II: December 7, 1941 through December 31, 1946 Korean War: June 27, 1950 through January 31, 1955 Vietnam War: August 5, 1964 (February 28, 1961, for veterans who served â??in countryâ? before August 5, 1964) through May 7, 1975 Gulf War: August 2, 1990 through a date to be set by law or Presidential Proclamation.

Provides benefits counseling, processes all applications for benefits and assistance programs (e.g., monetary, disability, burial, memorials, monuments, etc.), and assists in obtaining military records. Provides daily van service to transport local veterans to the Lebanon VA hospital. Van leaves the Veterans Office (Chestnut Street side) at 8 am and returns at 12:30 pm. Must call to reserve space.
