Provides shelter to animals when the temperature, wind chill, and precipitation combined result in real feel temperatures near or below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Also provides free straw bedding for caretakers or owners of pets and community cats who spend most or all of their time outdoors.

The shelter takes in stray or lost animals at no charge and accepts pet animals for a surrender fee. Once the animals are signed over to the shelter the staff takes on the responsibility of finding loving new homes or the owner of those animals that have been lost.

Provides care and adoption services for many homeless cats and kittens at its no-kill shelter. Cats and kittens are given a physical at the veterinarian's office upon entry to the shelter.

CPHS utilizes foster homes for stressed animals who are not handling the shelter environment well and need to be in a home environment.

Finds permanent homes for cats and kittens that are abused, neglected or unwanted. Provide education, spay/neuter and adoption programs. Free-roaming sanctuary and a no-kill shelter.

Provides sheltering, care, and adoptions of stray and unwanted animals and animals who arrive as the result of owner surrender and cruelty investigations.

Provides 30 days of foster care for cats/dogs while the domestic violence victim is living in a domestic violence shelter.

Provides access to The Humane Society of NWPA Cruelty Officer to assist in reporting and investigating animal cruelty cases.

Provides shelter, food, and medical care to stray, abandoned, or abused animals until they are adopted. Does not accept family pets. If space is available, will make exceptions for pets of persons who have died or are entering a nursing home.

The SPCA of Luzerne County is an open admission facility.
