Pocono Services for Families and Children - Head Start

Provides a preschool program for low-income children ages birth through five year olds. It provides children with a developmentally appropriate early childhood education. The program ensures that young children get health checkups and screenings, including vision and dental, that they are fed a nutritious hot meal every day and that they are working toward outcomes/developmental milestones. We also have a school-age program and offerings for teens/young adults. Our agency provides support to parents as well.

Services provided by the Initiative include: - A media campaign in cooperation with the National Fatherhood Initiative with the message that fathers involvement with their children is important - Case management for fathers and their families - Programming including: 1) "Foundations of Fatherhood", a 12-week educational support group that covers all areas of fathering, from self-image to anger management to spiritual leadership.
