Youth Alternatives - Summer/After School Program

Provides multiple exciting activities during summer and school season for youth of Venango County. In addition to daily activities, offers swimming, movie day, bowling, picnics, and various other outings. Offers a nutritious meal throughout the summer. Offers a one-on-one homework assistance and a warm nutritious meal throughout the school year. Many of our activities are learning-based and incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Camp Lily Berks is a week-long day camp that provides a well-rounded summer camp experience for children and young adults (ages 8-21) with disabilities. Their camps promise to engage, entertain and educate by offering inclusive activities that build skills, promote friendships and increase independence. Campers enjoy swimming, arts and crafts, games, sports, music, educational programs and a host of other activities. Special guests visit to teach workshops and entertain. Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm. A week-long (Sunday-Friday) overnight camp held in the Poconos for children (age 10 and older) and adults with disabilities. Campers gain environmental awareness and learn organic gardening in specially designed gardens while also enjoying traditional camp activities like hiking, canoeing, sports, arts and crafts, campfires and swimming. An optional employment track is available for campers who want to explore work experiences. Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania - Health and Life Skills

Develops young people's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and develop the skills to live successfully as self-sufficient, contributing adults. We develop ways to help young people achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles. SMART Moves, our drug and alcohol prevention education program, is the prime instruction piece in this area. The Club sub-contracts with the Lackawanna County Commission on Drug & Alcohol to implement this program. Another program is the Get Real About Violence Program (GRAV) This program is geared for Club members ages 6-13. The program teaches students skills to be healthy by showing them how to maintain self-control when tempted by violence, resolve conflicts without violence, and prevent or avoid situations by using self control. In addition, a variety of personal hygiene and safety programs, health fairs, and other wellness activities are offered to Club members.
