Provides opportunities to connect with and explore the life of Edward Hand, the diverse communities and material culture of early Lancaster County, and the complex issues that shaped our nation in its formative years by preserving and interpreting Historic Rock Ford and its collections.

Serves the public by researching, collecting, and preserving artifacts and specimens, that exemplify the Commonwealth's natural and cultural heritage, and by telling Pennsylvania's story through educational exhibits and programs.

The observatory features a 16-inch reflecting telescope as well as a vintage 11-inch Clark refracting telescope. Staff are available to answer questions and give instructions on the use of the telescopes.

Honors innocent victims who lost their lives due to alcohol and/or drug-related crashes on York County highways and waterways. Committee members add victims' names to the memorial and are available to provide support to family and friends who have lost a loved one in this way. Raises funds to maintain the memorial.
