The definition of a portrait is to be broadly interpreted. The goal is to present diverse works that in some way show the essence of the person being portrayed.

Invites families and persons who have lost someone to gun violence or who are themselves survivors of gun violence to be randomly paired with an artist who will create a portrait of their loved one for them. Participants meet with the artist and provide photos, mementos, stories, and anything that will help the artist to better know their loved one.
