Municipal/current planning provides a multitude of technical and review services to the 72 municipalities that comprise York County. The technical services cover a wide variety of topics from ordinance development to flood plain identification. The review services cover plan reviews, ordinance amendments, sewage modules and others. The municipal/current planning department has the resources and the expertise to provide planning consultation services to municipalities. Short term services can be provided at no charge, and long term services can be provided on a contractual basis. County/long range planning is primarily responsible for the on-going development and implementation of the York County comprehensive plan. Transportation planning/traffic engineering provides planning and engineering services that are available to all the municipalities within the county. Increases access to services, such as water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities, and electric and telephone service. Promotes economic development through loans to businesses. Provides technical assistance and information to help agricultural producers and cooperatives get started and improve their effectiveness.

Provides opportunities to participate in and benefit from urban farming and gardening, community-led food distribution, health and wellness education, and neighborhood land stewardship.

Operates a voluntary organization comprised of the seventeen (17) Neighborhood Associations within the City of York that meets monthly.

Offers tax credits for businesses in technology, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, and industrial export services within the Norristown Enterprise Zone. Provides up to 20% credit on investments to rehabilitate or improve buildings or land, with a maximum of $250,000 per project per year.

Offers single-family housing programs assisting in the purchase, construction, and repair of homes. Provides rural rental housing programs to assist in new construction or rehabilitate existing multi-family housing projects and build or improve community facilities. Assists rural businesses.

Administers the services and programs of the City of Lebanon including: permits and licenses, recreation, community and economic development, accounts and finances, engineering, traffic, highway, recycling, building and zoning, shade trees, bureau of police, and public safety.

Offers revitalized neighborhoods through the development of affordable housing, the provision of employment and job training, and the pursuit of community development initiatives.

Offers a variety of housing programs.

Provides financial assistance to landlords or developers to rehabilitate or construct rental properties for low and moderate income persons. The program focuses on properties which are rented to a significant number of low and moderate income persons.

Provides OHCD (Office of Housing and Community Development) approved housing counseling.

Provides grants to local municipalities to undertake public improvement projects, renovate community facilities to benefit low and moderate income people. (Ex. sanitary sewer, public water, neighborhood improvement and parks, recreational facility project, public facility rehabilitation)

Rehabilitates properties, develops community partnerships and undertakes economic development projects.

Administers the Mifflin County Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, and Housing Rehabilitation program. Maintains the Mifflin County Comprehensive Plan and coordinates with other agencies in the areas of transportation, housing, economic development, solid waste, and tourism.
