Responsible for the operations of all City departments and agencies.

Commissioners work closely with the County's Elected Officials and approve annual budgets for all county departments. Elected commissioners manage the following offices: District Attorney, Snyder County Courts, Jury Commissioners, Prothonotary, Register and Recorder, Sheriff, and Treasurer. Some of the departments supervised by commissioners are: Elections Domestic Relations, Emergency Services, Maintenance of County Buildings and Bridges, Planning & Development, Probation Department, Snyder County Prison Tax Assessment & Administration, and Veterans' Affairs.

The County Controller supervises the fiscal affairs of the County. The Controller's office also supervises and administers the day to day operations of the County's retirement plan.

Registers voters and manages elections for York County. Handles requests, such as: Handing in Mail-In and Absentee Ballots, Updating your registration, Applying for a ballot, and Handing in campaign finance. All new voter registrations and changes of address, name, or party affiliation must be recorded and maintained.

Collects real estate taxes, fees and receipts, and disburses all funds after authorization by the Commissioners. This department also issues licenses for hunting, fishing, dogs, and pistol permits only when used in conjunction with hunting and fishing. This office also issues licenses for small games of chance and bingo.

Serves as the governing legislative body for Carbon County. Oversees county operations, including administration/ human resources, economic development, corrections, court services, emergency services, fiscal affairs, human services, public works, and the offices of the Coroner, Public Defender, Sheriff, and Solicitor.

Collects delinquent real estate taxes for the 7 school districts and the 66 townships/boroughs located throughout Schuylkill County. All real estate taxes are considered delinquent if not paid by December 31st of the current year.
