Responsible for transportation planning for Lycoming County. Areas in which they are charged with serving the public include the posting and bonding of local roads, placement of traffic signs and the paving of roads.

Coordinates and works closely with local, state, federal and private sector groups to serve Clinton County residents when confronted with a potential for natural or technological hazards. Follows an all hazards comprehensive approach to emergency management.

Leads the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. Initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders and manages the National Flood Insurance Program.

Emergency support coordination and disaster preparedness information

Provides immunizations, STD/HIV testing, pregnancy testing, access to breast/prostate cancer screenings, monitoring of chronic diseases, and Tuberculosis testing when available. Lead screenings provided in certain situations, not by the clinic.

Directs, controls, and coordinates response efforts on behalf of Schuylkill County Commissioners during a major disaster. Also assists both public and private entities in developing mitigation plans to lessen the impact of disasters, through hazardous identification and risk assessment.

Serves as coordinator with county, state and federal agencies to mitigate the effects of disaster emergencies. Services include: Assists businesses and industries that deal with hazardous chemicals to develop evacuation plans Provides public education on actions to take during emergencies

To continue to provide cost efficient para-transit service, which addresses the recognized needs of the âtransportation disadvantagedâ population of Lackawanna County at the current level of service.

The Bureau of Fire serves the City of Williamsport, the county seat for Lycoming County. One of its divisions is Operations and Prevention. Its services include, but are not limited to: fire suppression, vehicle rescue, water rescue, technical rescue, emergency medical quick response, fire inspections, fire investigations, and emergency management administration. In 2004 the Bureau was given the responsibility of administering emergency management for the City. The Bureau is responsible for the implementation of the National Incident Management System for the City, maintaining the City emergency operations plan, two emergency operations centers, six early warning sirens, and the training of all emergency operations center personnel.

Lycoming County maintains a combination of governmental and volunteer emergency service organizations and facilities that are capable of coping with emergencies. Emergency Management relies upon emergency operations plans, organizations, trained personnel and mutual aid agreements that enable the rapid mobilization and utilization of the total resource capabilities within the County. It maintains communications links with local and state agencies, such as the National Weather Service, the Integrated Flood Warning and Observation System, an interconnected electronic satellite system with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency in Harrisburg and all other counties in Pennsylvania, and direct radio communications with police, fire, and ambulance services.
