Housing Partnership of Chester County - Winter Fuel Assistance Program

The Housing Partnership of Chester County provides our Fuel Assistance Program through donations from individuals and other organizations. This enables us to help applicants stay warm through the winter months. Qualified applicants will receive a one-time grant paid directly to the fuel provider (up to$500) that uses fuel oil, or propane for heat. Applicant must be owner of primary residence and may apply after receiving assistance from LIHEAP.

Independent Senior Citizen Resource Centers in York County - Delta Area Community Senior Center

Offers a community facility in which older persons can make new friends, learn a skill, enhance significance, preserve dignity, or just kick back and enjoy life. Provides a hot nutritionally balanced lunch, a wide variety of recreational activities including bingo, pinochle and other card games, board games, creative writing, arts & crafts, song, dance, and live entertainment, and a variety of bus trips and outings. Assists in medical services with a registered nurse who comes every month to check weight and blood pressure and can answer or make referrals on medical questions. Additionally, a certified podiatrist comes to the center every 9 weeks for toenail cutting and minor foot problems.

Avenues - Senior Recreation

Takes place in the evenings during the week or during the day on weekends. Serves individuals in the surrounding Pottsville and Tamaqua areas in Schuylkill County, who are Senior Citizens that can no longer drive a car and need transportation to get out and have some fun socializing or get some shopping done. Trips are offered once a week on different days alternating between the Pottsville and Tamaqua locations. Seating is limited on the vans and we take reservations for the trips on a first come, first serve basis. All transportation for the trips is free and staffing is provided for any assistance that is needed. Trips include: Local shopping malls Stores Area restaurants Picnics Craft nights Movie nights Local concerts Theatre productions The Hollywood Casino
