Police Department

Trains, certifies, organizes, and provides equipment to groups of residents who volunteer to patrol areas in their community and document and report any suspicious or criminal activities. Partners with law enforcement agencies, neighborhood and community groups, state and regional crime prevention associations, and a variety of businesses and civic groups.

Provides a tip line for callers who have information about crimes. Also provides safety seminars.

Preserves the public peace and order, to protect life and property and to enforce the laws of the United States, Pennsylvania and the City of Allentown.

Responsible for enforcing all laws and ordinances. Also provides services beyond those of normal enforcement procedures including community resource programs, safety programs for students, and counseling, upon request, for students considered at risk for legal involvement. Provides animal law enforcement, issues temporary no parking signs and business licenses.

Offers comprehensive crisis counseling and support services to individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other serious crimes.

Focuses on improving the safety of the community by providing public cameras and offering several initiatives including: Safety by Design, Video Safety, and Mobilizing Your Community.
