The District Attorney's office acts as a prosecuting service for the State. Attorneys prosecute persons charged with crimes by police and offer legal counsel to police departments only, not to private persons. The District Attorney serves on the Prison Board and chairs the Victim/Witness Policy Board. In cooperation with state and local police, the District Attorney's Office administers the Lancaster County Drug Enforcement Task Force.
