Works with families to establish and enforce support obligations for children and spouses. Assists in opening new cases involving paternity establishment and child and/or spousal support. Enforces those orders, collects and disburses support payments. If someone is not sure that he is the biological father of a child, the Court will order genetic testing. The Lackawanna County Domestic Relations Section is responsible for working with families to establish and enforce support obligations for children and spouses. Domestic Relations is a part of the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas. It helps the Court establish and enforce Court Orders for child support and spousal support.

Work-related topics include family and medical leave, sexual harassment, and employment discrimination. Counselors use the resource database to refer callers to other agencies that may be able to help them. If desired, counselors mail free written materials to callers regarding the areas of concern for them.
