Focuses on increasing listening and reading skills and strategies with an intensive focus on vocabulary development. Places special emphasis on recognizing and pronouncing many of the most common words in English. Offers practice with new vocabulary in writing and speaking.

Adult activities include cooperation with local agencies, neighborhood assessment, referrals, English as a Second Language (ESL) home tutoring, educational mentoring, computer assistance, beautification programs and collaboration with the Burton Diehl Neighborhood Organization.
