Administers additional classes that include Citizenship Classes, the Next Step Program helping students to prepare for a career, higher education, and workplace goals, HiSET Testing Location in York County, and Home of BUCK A BOOK® Reading Program held in York County Schools. Offers volunteer opportunities to be tutors with training provided.

Healthy Lifestyles: Fitness & nutrition, sports & recreation, alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention, team sports. Good character & citizenship: volunteerism, character building, mentoring, leadership. Provides a wide array of music, drama, dance, theater, vocal, and instrumental classes.

Offers extended care before and after school hours. Offers activities including sports, games, crafts, character development, homework supervision, and snack. Enrichment programs include math, reading, and science.

Promotes a healthy neighborhood by providing activities and advocacy that engage adults and children in positive experiences. Children's activities include self-esteem and conflict resolution, art and crafts, environmental education and theme-based activities. Adult activities include cooperation with local agencies, neighborhood assessment, referrals, English as a Second Language (ESL) home tutoring, educational mentoring, computer assistance, beautification programs and collaboration with the Burton Diehl Neighborhood Organization.

Provides free loans of books (including large print), magazines, audio & video recordings, reference services, delivery to the homebound, children and adult educational programs, and use of facilities for community events. Offers public computers available, free Wi-Fi, and printing available for $0.25/page. Acts as a cooling center.

Helping the students and teachers, to make sure no student falls behind. Staff will help to facilitate the virtual curriculum from each child’s school district. These tasks will include; helping children get online each morning and keep them motivated and engaged virtually; troubleshooting throughout the day and checking that they are completing assignments; facilitating connections with their teachers during their office hours and other instructional supports, and being attentive to their social and emotional needs.

Provides free, one-to-one and small group instruction in reading, writing, math or English as a Second Language to adults who wish to improve basic skills. Tutoring sessions may be held at any public location such as a library, church, community center, or recreation hall.

Provides academic, recreation, and cultural activities, during the school year and during a six-week summer program. Provides snacks.

Provides adult basic education and continuing education courses. Also offers GED preparation, English as a second language, arts instruction, and family life education. Study skills instruction and tutoring services are also provided.

Provides a specialized mental wellness and education center for children, teens, and parents. Services offered include outpatient counseling, tutoring and mentoring, support groups, and educational programs. Counseling services include play therapy, sand tray therapy, trauma-informed counseling, parent counseling, and family therapy. Telehealth counseling services available.

Recruits and trains volunteer reading coaches to increase literacy development by expanding opportunities for children to have shared adult-child book reading time, ultimately helping youth read on grade level by 3rd grade and stay on track to school success. Both in person and virtual opportunities are available.

Provides services and support designed to increase student learning and achievement in reading. The center's programs and services offer Allegheny County educators access to professional development, high quality materials and resources to transform and sustain effective reading instruction in grades Kindergarten to 8.

After-School Tutoring, Internship, Counseling, and Mentoring Program for Youth provides students from the Logan/Olney neighborhood schools, grades 1-12, with academic enrichment, job training, employment mentoring, and leadership training. The program operates after school during the school year.
