Senior centers provide health screenings, as well as classes and workshops related to fall prevention, exercise, nutrition, and chronic disease self-management

Offers a program of bi-weekly literacy instruction sessions designed to increase proficiency in reading comprehension, math, and digital literacy. Also has a wellness component. Sessions take place virtually and in-person as permitted, and serve cohorts of 25 youth.

Provides a social rehabilitation program with recovery-oriented opportunities to build academic, social, recreational/leisure, educational, and daily living skills through group and individual learning opportunities.

Advocates for policy change, establishes programs and services, and produces, and distributes educational materials.

Offers health and wellness classes such as Reiki, yoga, Zumba, and meditation, as well as specialized health and wellness workshops. Please Note: Many groups, programs, and activities are virtual. Check the Calender Page regularly for an updated list of available groups and events.

Hosts workshops and information sessions around the topics of parenting, child development, in-school advocacy, financial management, skill building, and resource sharing. Works with community members and partner agencies to provide the knowledge, tools, and resources that community members need to thrive. Staff provide crisis support, advocacy efforts, resource connection, and wellness workshops. Also hosts on-site therapists and a licensed social worker for students and families who may need those services.

Provides disease prevention and health promotion services at senior centers or other community sites. Prevention programs include: "Live Your Best Life" a free, evidence-based, chronic disease self-management program and "Live Your Best Life with Diabetes" is a free diabetes self-management program. Also, certified instructors present a free, evidence-based program on fall prevention. Medication reviews with a registered pharmacist from Evangelical Community Hospital are offered annually at each senior center and free blood pressure screenings are offered by licensed nurses at each senior center.

Provides nutrition counseling and education from Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionists (LDNs), who draw on their experience to develop individualized plans that translate nutritional science into practical guidance for healthy living for individuals of all ages. Supports healthy weight management, improved eating habits, and reduced risk of chronic illness. Creates a specialized nutrition plan to help individuals better manage conditions such as diabetes and pre-diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, cancer, celiac disease, eating disorders, food allergies, pregnancy (including gestational diabetes), child and adolescent nutrition, and vegetarian diets.

Provides activity based curriculum with lessons that focuses on all aspects of health and wellbeing.

Provides one hot, and one cold meal, Monday through Friday, to home bound seniors.

Offers discounts to veterans for Y memberships.

Offers Y Facilities and Wellness Programs.

Wellness Center offers community health education programs including nutrition and weight management, diabetes, CPR and first aid, tobacco cessation, senior exercise programs, and community health outreach.

Provides wellness for daily living, intake and assessment screening, counseling regarding symptoms of disease and develop nutrition and dietary regimens and mental health counseling.

Focuses on supporting education and non-violence.

Offers social services to Latino immigrants in Allegheny County and the surrounding area. Provides aid to Latino families based on their individual needs.

Offers a support group that integrates relational theory, resiliency practices, and skills training in a specific format designed to increase positive connection, personal and collective strengths, and competence in girls.

Provides cultural programs, special events, holocaust education, health and wellness programs, a food pantry, aquatics programs, Jewish and non-Jewish adult enrichment programs, childhood education and development, preschool, childcare, before and after school care, and summer camps. Provides referrals to other community resources as necessary.

Offers a free resource for pregnant women. Our nurses offer advice, support and great information on pregnancy, delivery, and parenting. All enrolled mothers receive an Infant Car Seat safely installed before delivery. Licensed Therapist available to assist mothers struggling with perinatal depression.

Provides screenings and programs to help encourage optimal wellness for older adults. Services available include: A) Health Education Lectures B) Wellness Fairs/Screenings C) Monthly Blood Pressure Checks D) Exercise Classes/Fitness Room E) Nutrition Education Programs
