A prenatal services program which integrates comprehensive and culturally sensitive clinical care with care coordination and social work services, nutritional counseling, family planning referrals, WIC referrals, EPSDT referrals, dental screening, prenatal and childbirth education and other related services.

Uses a unique peer support model that uses shared language, cultural expertise, advocacy, lived experiences, and system navigation knowledge to help individuals and families overcome social determinants and improve their health outcomes. Aims to ensure timely and relevant access to pre and post natal care for the target population.

Provides inpatient and outpatient medical services. Inpatient care includes medical and surgical services, critical care, operating room services, maternity and pediatric care, mental health treatment, acute rehabilitation, and neonatal intensive care. Additional inpatient programs include a mammography screening program and Healthy Beginnings Plus, a prenatal care program for individuals receiving or eligible for Medical Assistance. Emergency services are also available. Outpatient services include laboratory and imaging services, cardiology, cancer care at Ephrata Cancer Center, and sleep apnea diagnosis at the Sleep Disorder Center.

Prenatal Center cares for pregnant women regardless of their ability to pay. The earlier prenatal care begins, the greater the chances of delivering a healthy baby. And prenatal care helps protect the health and well-being of mothers.

Provides physical, emotional and instructive nursing, medical social work support, as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy when needed for mothers and their children. Offers pre-and post-natal care and instruction, assistance with infants and children up to age 18, will skilled medical needs. Provides care that include assisting caregiver with IV medications or tube feedings or providing ongoing in-home therapy.

Care coordinators assist women with the required paperwork to receive supplemental or free services. Programming ensures that the expectant mother will receive necessary obstetric services that might have otherwise not been availabel due to lack of insurance.

Nurse practitioner and Community Health Nurses provide services on STD clinic day. The STD Clinic is available on Tuesdays from 9:00am to 12:30pm, and the TB Clinic operates on the 1st Thursday of every month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Immunizations are free by appointment only on Wednesdays, from 8:30am to 10:45am and 1:30pm to 2:30pm, and are available to individuals with no insurance or underinsurance. Additional services include family and professional education, general health information and referrals, case management and counseling for children with elevated blood lead levels, health promotion and teaching for groups, PKU, perinatal and hepatitis B case management, investigation of communicable diseases, and follow-up for animal bites and rabies.

Provides a collaborative approach integrating the Parents as Teachers curriculum, which aids in supporting a strong parent child Interaction within the visit. Takes a holistic approach to strengthening families through our evidence-based early childhood home visiting model. Works to provide a cohesive network of supports for both Office of Children and Youth involved Parents and Foster/Kinship care families.

Offers free pre-abortion/prenatal screening with options counseling, pregnancy testing, and ultrasounds. Provides material support in the form of baby supplies and clothing that can be acquired using “Baby Bucks” earned in our birth-parenting classes. We have a one-time emergency supply support program as well.

ACHIP is a Lehigh Valley Children's Hospital home visiting program for pregnant women and families with children (birth to age 5) who live in the downtown Allentown area. ACHIP promotes health and well-being, addresses health needs and connects families with the community resources they need.
