Recreation Therapy is an activity-based intervention that promotes the independent physical, cognitive, emotional and social functioning of people with disabilities. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists use technology, motor and sensory programs, in both individual and group settings, to enhance current skills and facilitate the establishment of new skills for daily living and community functioning.

Provides academic instruction to students within the autism spectrum in kindergarten through age 21. Groups students according to academic achievement, language ability, learning capacity, and relational development; and regroups students according to their strengths and weaknesses in each subject. Conducts classes in small groups of four or less, in close proximity to each other to foster opportunities to develop familiarity and comfort. Services include speech and occupational therapies.

Provides consultation services to teachers and other school-based personnel throughout Chester County. Students referred for OT consultation may be experiencing difficulty functioning in the classroom due to fine motor, sensory motor, handwriting and/or organization issues. Students referred for PT consultation may be exhibiting gross motor concerns. Services: Observe students and provide written reports including observations with specific strategies to enhance studentâs classroom performance. Suggest and/or provide adapted learning materials when appropriate. Transportation: This free door-to-door service provides rides to essential medical appointment or critical service need, such as obtaining a photo ID or grocery shopping. Individuals must live in Allegheny County and meet the program criteria. Appointments requested to be made in advance.
