The PA CareerLink is a one-stop job center that provides an array of employment and training services in a convenient, easily accessible location. Services include job counseling, testing and assessment; resume preparation assistance, interview training and other prejob guidance services; job matching and referral; unemployment insurance and job registration; labor market and career information; information on financial aid for education and training; and referral for job training, transportation, child care, personal and financial counseling, health care and other human services resources in the community.

For adults 18 years and up. Must meet federal eligibility requirements. * Work one-on-one with an employment planner to develop an employment plan and outline the path to their next job. For adults 18 years and up. Must meet federal eligibility requirements. * Job Search/Job Club - Individuals can sign up for Comprehensive Career Services. Work one-on-one with an employment planner to develop an employment plan. For adults 18 years and up. Must meet federal eligibility requirements. * Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) serves young adults 17-24 years old who are currently enrolled in school in Berks County. Must meet federal eligibility requirements.

Offers assessments by licensed optometrists, prescriptions for optical aids, and the opportunity to try out aids ranging from magnifiers, writing guides, special lighting devices, and closed-circuit TVs. Prevention of blindness programs including free vision screenings for children 12 months to 6 years of age. Transportation: This free door-to-door service provides rides to essential medical appointment or critical service need, such as obtaining a photo ID or grocery shopping. Individuals must live in Allegheny County and meet the program criteria. Appointments requested to be made in advance.

Provides individual, group, family, marriage, and military readjustment counseling, vocational and employment counseling, and drug and alcohol assessment and referral.

Provides job placement, on-site job training for a limited time, and follow up services. Individuals work with an employment team to develop a job within the community which is consistent with the individual's capabilities and interests.

Offers access to a resource library that includes: computers with internet access and resume writing software; PA CareerLink registration; resume packets; information on interviewing skills and writing cover and follow-up letters; labor market and training provider information; job listings; information on local agencies, services, and resources; and phone, fax, and copier access for job searching.

Provides work experience and training opportunities to Allegheny County residents age 55 and older who meet income guidelines. Individuals enrolled in the program receive training/work experience in nonprofit or government agencies and are paid minimum wage. In addition to work experience and training, enrollees receive assistance in securing full-time and part-time employment in the private sector.

Students spend six months learning in-demand technical and professional skills before applying their skills during a six-month corporate internship. Throughout the program, students complete coursework that may be eligible for college credits and receive access to services and supports to promote their success.

Also provides services for eligible youth including internships/work experiences, work readiness training, occupational skills training, case management, guidance and counseling, tutoring, and career awareness/exploration.

MaturityWorks matches eligible older job seekers with local nonprofits and public agencies so they can increase skills and build self-confidence, while earning a modest income. Based on their employment interests and goals, participants may also receive supportive services and skills training. The MaturityWorks experience frequently leads to permanent employment.
