Foster Home Placement
Works with children who have experienced loss, separation, trauma, and physical/ sexual abuse. In situations where birth families were unable to make the changes needed to keep their children safe within a federally mandated timeline, search, match, and preparation services are provided to match children with families. These foster families take a 10-week intensive therapeautic curriculum and receive case management services in order to ensure success prior to finalization.

Diakon Adoption and Foster Care services assists people wishing to adopt. Conducts home studies and ongoing support, when requested. Also provides assistance and emotional support to pregnant women wishing to make designated adoptions. Works with the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (Swan) to assist families in adopting children with special needs (children older than 5 years, sibling groups, children with emotional, intellectual or physical challenges) and legal-risk adoptions (foster to adopt). No fees for adoptions through the SWAN program, but fees apply for other adoption services.
