Provides equine assisted programs including riding lessons held from late April through mid October with trained and certified instructors. Also offers a year-round farmers program where disabled can help care for sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, horses and ponies. Staff are composed of volunteer adults and youth. As riders develop their skills, they experience a true sense of freedom and achievement, receiving a tremendous boost to their self-esteem.

Offers a program that allows for each client to be assigned to a horse for the duration of their stay to ensure each client's needs are matched appropriately with a horse that will allow them to be successful in equine activities. While learning to ride and care for a horse, a client can learn to increase their attention and focus, sensory perception, communication skills, emotional vulnerability, confidence, and self-esteem. The horse activities are taught and supervised by our highly–trained Ranch staff and therapeutically processed with Malibu’s Clinical staff.

Offers treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which offers clients a nontraditional approach to therapy. This therapy combines a licensed mental health professional, a certified equine specialist, and a therapy horse to create a research-based treatment model which strives to resolve emotional difficulties caused by disturbing, difficult, or frightening life experiences. The horse is an integral part of treatment because horses are prey animals and therefore are extremely alert and sensitive to the emotions of those around them. Clients learn to identify their own emotional state by observing the reaction from the horse. The horse also helps the client stay grounded as the client processes past traumas.

Therapeutic Horseback Riding is designed to provide both physical and psychological benefits. The warmth and motion of the horse relaxes spastic muscles and mobilizes stiff joints. The horses's rhythmic walk is similar to man's and is beneficial for those who are unable to walk on their own. Provides Equine- assisted therapy model or EAP, which is a treatment that includes equine activities or an equine environment to promote physical, occupational, and emotional growth in persons with a myriad of afflictions from anxiety and depression to dementia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), genetic syndromes such as Down syndrome and more. It is also beneficial for treating patients who have suffered traumatic brain injuries or those who have experienced abuse and drug and alcohol addiction.
