Provides funding for prevention, intervention, and treatment services to all eligible children, adults, and families. Services include detox, inpatient rehab, methadone maintenance, Vivitrol, recovery housing, certified recovery services, a halfway house, outpatient care, case management, a Student Assistance Program (SAP), and free prevention services to all who are struggling with alcohol, tobacco, other substances, and/or problem gambling.

County Government Departments/Offices
All substance use disorder services are rendered through contracted SUD treatment service providers and the treatment related service providers. The service providers make arrangements for LCDAC funding assistance for qualified individuals who do not have insurance or the ability to pay for their substance use disorder treatment/treatment-related services. Funding assistance is available for all levels of care (detox, outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, halfway house, residential) as well as the identified treatment related services (case management/care coordination, MAT: methadone, suboxone, vivitrol). Funding assistance may also be available for individuals with a gambling use disorder. Prevention/education programs are available in all 16 school districts

Substance Use Disorder Education/Prevention
For individuals without insurance funding assistance is available from the Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services. Uninsured individuals must go through one several licensed points of entry of which Gaudenzia is one. Assessment is needed to determine what level of care and intensity of service is necessary. Based on the assessment, a referral will be made to the appropriate treatment program.

Maintains county-wide leadership in the development and implementation of policies, programs, and a system of prevention and intervention services that prevent the onset of illegal alcohol, tobacco and drug use, problem gambling and gaming, and treatment services that promote recovery from addiction to all substances. Provides Naloxone kits for Berks County residents and businesses, requested at: cocaberks.org/narcan, that can be picked up at the RISE Center, Hispanic Center or at the COCA office.

Priority populations include Pregnant Females, Pregnant Injection Drug Users, Injection Drug Users, Overdose Survivors and Veterans.

The main purpose of screening is to evaluate the need for a referral to emergent care setting, including detoxification, prenatal, perinatal, and psychiatric services, and then to motivate and refer the individual for a level of care assessment or other services.

The goal of Operation REACH (Relief for Emergency Assistance through Community Help) is to assist veterans who are struggling with substance abuse and/ or co-occurring mental health needs get the help that they need. This initiative will focus on the comprehensive needs of the veteran and delivering services through a holistic approach. Operation REACH will strive to provide intervention support services through a targeted case management model. Veterans and their families will benefit from targeted case management through assistance in coordination with basic necessities. Unlike many programs, characterization of discharge will not serve as eligibility criteria for Operation REACH.
